Sexual Violence.
The Hamas terrorist attacks on October 7th, 2023 inflicted terrible sexual violence and mutilation on innocent men, women, and children. While mostly women and girls were targeted, men and boys also experienced sexual brutality as a part of Hamas's goals to terrorize and brutalize innocent Israeli civilians.
Rhode Island Coalition for Israel (RICI) held a successful 6th month remembrance event on April 7th, 2024 to bring light to the issue of rape and sexual violence used as a weapon of war in Israel on Oct 7. We had the privilege of hosting various speakers, including Nitsana Darshan-Leitner from Shurat Hadin Israel Law Center, Susan Seely, Executive Director of NA'AMAT USA (the largest women's organization in Israel), and Irit Yaknes, Deputy Consul General of Israel to New England.

Screams Before Silence
Sheryl Sandberg, former CEO of Meta (aka Facebook), directed a powerful movie exploring the experiences and evidence of sexual violence in Israel on Oct 7, 2024. A must-watch documentary. #ScreamsBeforeSilence sheds light on the unspeakable sexual violence committed on on that day. As heartbreaking as these stories in the documentary are, we cannot afford to look away.
