About the event
Rhode Island Coalition for Israel (RICI) is pleased to partner with the Cape Verdean Museum to offer an exclusive tour of the museum, with special focus on the Jewish exhibit. This tour is limited to the first 20-25 people who sign up, and is free of charge, although donations to the museum are appreciated. Tour description: This tour will discover the legacy of Jews in Cape Verde while taking a close look at artifacts, stories, and more from Cape Verdean Jewry. Dive into when, where, and, how Jews lived in Cape Verde and what happened to them as a result of the Spanish-Portuguese Inquisition. The history of Cape Verde is typical and yet unique for its location. For three centuries, the islands were a setting for the transatlantic slave trade, exile for political prisoners of Portugal and a place of refuge for Jews and other victims of religious persecution during the Spanish-Portuguese Inquisition.
