Join RICI for an evening of entertainment and action for our annual Sy Dill Mensch of the Year Awards + Fundraiser….food, drinks, entertainment, and more!

Join us as we celebrate our accomplishments and set our sights on future progress, standing up for Israel and the Jewish people. This incredible evening will feature live music from The Dorons, a well-known local band, connection, kosher food from Ahava Catering, drinks, desserts, a silent auction, and speakers. Our keynote speaker, Mark Patinkin, nationally acclaimed author and columnist, will be honored with the annual Sy Dill Mensch of the Year Award which goes to a community member who has demonstrated continued advocacy for Israel and Jewish causes. In addition, we will award past RICI board member Karen Hurvitz with the Advocacy Award for her exceptional work litigating cases of antisemitism on behalf of Jewish students and community members. In addition, we will have an IDF soldier speaker who served on Oct 7, 2023 in Israel.

Cash bar available. Location will be sent via email after registration. Armed security will be present. Plenty of free street parking available and in a parking lot adjacent to the venue. Please inquire to maria@ricoalitionforisrael.org about sponsorship opportunities (both for individuals and businesses/organizations).

More information about the entertainment for the evening:

“THE DORONS: THE FAMILY THAT ROCKS TOGETHER”

Meet The Dorons — Your New Favorite Family Band (Seriously)

Forget Disney trips and awkward family BBQs — when the Rosenfields spend time together, it’s in the recording studio.

Known on stage (and on streaming platforms) as The Dorons, this Providence-based indie rock foursome is made up of one musically gifted family: Mom, Dad, and two brothers who ditched the idea of a “normal” family band for something way cooler. Think killer harmonies, sharp lyrics, and songs that actually make you feel something.

With deep roots in formal music training and years of live performance under their belts, The Dorons blend polished musicianship with raw, thought-provoking songwriting. Their sound is indie rock with a soul — equal parts head-nodding grooves and lyrical depth.

Come for the novelty of a family band. Stay because they actually rule.

More information about Mark Patinkin who will be one of the evening's awards recipient:

"Mark Patinkin is among the longest serving newspaper columnists in the country, having been at it 45 years for the Providence Journal. In addition to telling Rhode Island’s story over decades, Mark has traveled abroad to write about famine in Africa, the Lebanon civil war, the troubles in Northern Ireland, religious violence in India, the collapse of European communism and recently the conflict in the Middle East. He has written about Israel extensively, and was on the ground in Gaza during the first Intifada in 1991. Mark has written a half dozen books, including his most recent, “The Holy Land at War.” His columns defending Israel in the aftermath of Oct. 7 prompted a Providence City Councilman to call him “A disgrace to humanity,” which Mr. Patinkin considers a badge of honor. He was a Pulitzer Prize finalist for international reporting and has honorary degrees from Rhode Island College and Johnson and Wales University. Mark grew up in Chicago, graduated from Middlebury College and currently lives in Providence. "
