Acerca del evento

Join the Rhode Island Coalition for Israel (RICI) on Zoom on Sunday February 15th at 7pm Eastern Time for an important update on antisemitism/antisemitism from nationally acclaimed author and expert on antisemitism, Dr. Andrew Pessin. This event is possible in collaboration with our community partners: Chicago Jewish Alliance, Massachusetts Antisemitism Synagogue Task Force, Canadian Antisemitism Education Foundation, and Mattathias Project. Register here

Andrew Pessin is Professor of Philosophy at Connecticut College and was for many years Campus Bureau Editor for The Algemeiner. He also most recently founded the Institute for the Critical Study of Antizionism. Author of many academic articles and books as well as works of philosophy for a general audience, his books include Israel Breathes, World Condemns (2 vols.); Refuting the Lies Told About Israel; Anti-Zionism on Campus: The University, Free Speech, and BDS; Poisoning the Wells: Antisemitism in America; and The Jewish God Question: What Jewish Thinkers Have Said About God, the Book, the People, and the Land. His articles address many aspects of the campus environment for Jews and for Israel supporters, including the question of whether anti-Zionism is antisemitism (the short answer is that it is). Most recently he has been producing a weekly ten-minute podcast on the highlights (and lowlights) of that week’s campus antisemitism, available via his substack. He has also published four novels, including Nevergreen (2021), an academic satire about campus cancel culture and its deleterious effects on the Jews which, unfortunately, proved prophetic when campuses exploded against Israel and the Jews after the October 7 massacre. His most recent novel, Bright College Years (2024), is about how colleges used to be before they all went crazy.

In a previous incarnation he enjoyed some moments of fame portraying “The Genius” on the former Late Show with David Letterman. (He figures he has about four minutes of fame left.)

His undergraduate degree is from Yale University and his Ph.D., in philosophy, is from Columbia University. These were, fortunately, from the era before the universities turned so pervasively against the Jews.

For more information about him and his work, subscribe to his substack (“Pariah—But The Truth, You Know, Ain’t A Democracy”) and visit www.andrewpessin.com. For the latest on campus antizionism and antisemitism, follow him on X: @AndrewPessin.

If you believe in Prof. Pessin's mission – to document and analyze the growing global movement against the Jews, as a necessary step toward fighting it, including the launch of the Institute for the Critical Study of Antizionism – please consider buying him a coffee: https://coff.ee/andrewpessin.

Andrew Pessin is a popular and dynamic speaker, and has given many presentations, talks, and webinars to assorted groups including synagogues and Jewish organizations, as well as appeared on many podcasts. He is a regular contributor to the Chai Mitzvah Scholars Circle webinars. He has also served as “scholar-in-residence” at local synagogues.
